Those two don't go together, just so you know.
Most of you know how much I love scrapbooking. I never intended to get as involved in it as I have, but now it is one of the things I enjoy most in my free time. The first scrapbook I ever made was last summer, for Teetz's 21st birthday. I got into it more when Drake and I started dating, when we both kind of realized this was IT, and I started a scrapbook for us. With the exception of a couple pictures from the snow storm we had recently, Drake and I are up to date. Teetz asked me a while back why I didn't make a scrapbook for myself about my life, and why I was just making one for Drake and I. There is way too much for me to start at the beginning, so I kind of put the idea on hold. Plus, my Grandma did this for me sort of when I graduated from high school. Then though, I was flipping through a scrapbook magazine a couple days ago and saw an article called, "Scrapbook the Songs That Take You Back" and I thought this would be a great idea. There are so many songs that I love and that have special meaning, that I can't help but recall those memories whenever I hear them. I started making a list to put into the album, and am already up to around 45 songs. Some of the songs are attached to a certain person or event, while other songs tell a story that reflects a similar time in my life. This number seemed a little high, so I decided I was only going to try and include songs that are attached to a specific event, but it is so hard to do because there are so many songs I love, and so many memories I want to keep forever.
This scrapbook seemed a little more daunting than the one I am working on for Drake and I - mostly because that album I am constantly working on as events happen with us, while this music albums I am really going to have to go back through pictures and search for. The very first song I am going to put in is "Sarah" by Jefferson Starship. My Uncle Kraig used to play this for me when I was a baby and while I don't actually have a memory of this, my mom told me how I would walk around the house singing it - and I knew all the lyrics! I think that's pretty darn cool for a two year old. Other songs I am planning on including are "Tears In Heaven", "Slow Motion", "American Soldier", and so on. The first song is for my good friend Joe, who died our senior year, the second is for Kayleen and I dancing in the cages at Mickey's, and the last one is, of course, for Adam. I have tons to include and I am excited about starting work on it.
Since it is such a big project, I decided the best thing to do would be to write up my explanation for each song and why I am including it in the book first, so I have my words perfectly set. I just don't want to mess up, because this book is pretty much going to be my life set to music. Then I am going to start finding photographs and things and stickers, cardstock, etc. It is pretty difficult thus far though to find musical note embellishments and such. You're think it wouldn't be that tough, but it is. I found a great scrapbook site that has tons of quotes, so I am sure I can find some there.
I had my interview with Kay Byers yesterday and it went AWESOME! She said that my file was one of the best she had ever seen, and I think it is safe to say this is a good thing, seeing as how she is in charge of all of elementary school teacher hirings for LPS. All I have to do is turn in my credential packet on Monday and everything will be set. In April, the district puts together the files of the applicants they feel are the most qualified for available positions and puts those in one pile basically, though administrators have the option to look at all applicants. Kay said that she was very glad I came in and that it is very probable I will be interviewing with a number of schools. I am so psyched! Basically is how it works from here on out: the schools admins will look through the applicant files and see who they think would best fit with their school and then calling them for interviews. Pretty much, I have to wait for two weeks before this will start happening. And we all know how patient I am. But I have to be this time, I don't have much choice. Cross your fingers that I get Randolph or Belmont!

hahaha! I want to see you dance in a cage! Can elementary teachers do that?
I'm not sure, I probably shouldn't. That makes me sad, because it was a lot of fun. When you finally come to Lincoln, we shall see what happens. Or if they even have the cages in there anymore. Mickey's now just has a big question mark on the sign, so Drake calls it 'The Riddler'. The owner was busted for meth so we're not sure what will happen to the bar.
